City of Iowa City Police and Fire Department crews are closing portions of N. 1st Avenue in Iowa City due to an underground gas line leak caused when construction equipment hit the gas line. MidAmerican Energy is also on its way to the scene. The incident occurred in the 800 block of N. 1st Avenue.

Hawkeye football fans who are headed to Iowa City for the game this weekend are reminded that there may be some traffic delays on Dubuque Street due to ongoing construction on the Iowa City Gateway Project. Drivers are encouraged to arrive early or use an alternate route to Kinnick Stadium to avoid delays. The Hawkeyes face the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, beginning at 7 p.m.

The City of Iowa City has hired a new Assistant City Manager, Ashley Monroe, to fill the role left vacant by the promotion of Geoff Fruin to City Manager in July 2016. Monroe will begin her employment with Iowa City on Thursday, Dec. 1.
