Work will begin Wednesday on a project that will improve the intersection of Burlington and Clinton Streets in Iowa City.

Weather permitting, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, S. Clinton Street will reduce to one lane of alternating traffic between Court and Burlington Streets. Traffic control will fluctuate during this time as crews begin their work.

Beginning the week of April 9, crews will start removing pavement and begin water main construction at the Court Street intersection. Traffic will remain reduced to one lane on S. Clinton Street between Court and Burlington Streets for about three weeks.

This work is being done as part of the Burlington and Clinton Street Improvements Project, which will replace water main, install new traffic and pedestrian signals, and improve curb ramps and sidewalks. Turn lanes will also be added on Clinton Street at the Burlington Street intersection.

Drivers should take note of this work and allow extra travel time as delays may happen. As always, use caution when traveling through a construction area.
