The City of Iowa City Public Art Program is seeking artists, artist teams, engineers, architects or others interested in creating a permanent wall installation at Robert A Lee Recreation Center. The goal of this project is to design and install an interactive, S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) based project that stimulates thought, conversation and creativity for the diverse demographic of visitors to the recreation center.

Dubuque Street traffic reminders following UI football games

Dubuque Street will again temporarily convert to a one-way following the Iowa vs. Nebraska game Friday, Nov. 25.

A few reminders about the traffic change:

Two-way access from I-80 to Foster Road/B'Jaysveill Lane will be maintained. Those located in all areas of Peninsula, Idylwyld, Taft Speedway & B’Jaysville Lane can come and go via the interstate during the temporary one-way conversion.

Digital signage will be posted on I-80 noting the lack of southbound access on Dubuque, but people who need to access any location including and north of Foster can still...

Leaf Vacuum Program Extended

After reviewing the extended weather forecast, the City is moving forward with plans to start a fifth pass of the City for leaf collection. The route order will remain the same starting with Route 5, proceeding in numerical order, and moving to Route 1 after Route 7.

Please keep in mind that continuation of the program is extremely weather dependent and could end at any time without completion of every route and is why we are now rotating the order of the routes annually.

Downtown Iowa City - 200 block of Washington Street to reopen to one lane of traffic

City crews are planning to open Washington Street to one lane of eastbound traffic between Dubuque and Linn Streets beginning Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016.

Washington Street is expected to reopen to full traffic in December 2016.

The upgrades and updates on Washington Street are part of the City’s larger Downtown and Pedestrian Mall Streetscape plan . All businesses on Washington Street are open during construction.
