Business and property owners on Washington Street are invited to a weekly meeting that will provide updates on the Washington Streetscape project.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, April 11 and will continue through the fall. The meetings will kick-off Friday, April 15 and are planned to occur every Friday throughout the course of the project.

“The weekly updates will give stakeholders on Washington Street an opportunity to receive the latest information on the project from our staff,” City of Iowa City Senior Civil Engineer Scott Sovers said. “These meetings are designed to answer questions and make sure owners are aware of what’s going on.”

The first meeting will be held Friday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Senior Center in room 103. Meetings will then move to room 205, also at the Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., starting Friday, April 22 and continuing through the end of August.

Organizers have yet to determine the location for meetings that will occur after the end of August, but will update business and property owners as a spot becomes available closer to the fall.

“Our goal is to continue these weekly sessions from the start of the project through completion,” Sovers said. “As long as the owners are attending we’ll be there each week with an update.”

Business and property owners should sign-up for the Washington Street e-mail list to receive updates, like this one, as well as project news and information straight to their inbox. Be sure to e-mail shannon-mcmahon@iowa-city.org to get on the list.
