The 100 block of Washington Street, stretching from Clinton to Dubuque Streets, will reopen to two-way traffic, Friday, Sept. 30.

The 100 block reopened to one lane of one-way, westbound traffic earlier this month after being completely closed to traffic for several months as crews worked to replace underground infrastructure and update the street with new amenities like lighting and seating.

Similar work continues in the 200 block of Washington Street, stretching from Dubuque to Linn Streets, where workers are currently upgrading utilities, repairing vaults and replacing pavement.

The entire project is expected to be completed later this fall.

All businesses on Washington Street are open during construction.

The upgrades and updates on Washington Street are part of the City’s larger Downtown and Pedestrian Mall Streetscape plan.
