The final creek environmental clean-up of the year is scheduled this Sunday, Oct. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. on Ralston Creek. Volunteers are needed to remove trash, invasive species, and woody debris to help reduce flooding and erosion and improve water quality.   

Volunteers should sign up in advance at On Sunday, shortly before noon, the group will meet in the parking lot behind the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center at 220 S. Gilbert Street to get assignments. Anyone under the age of 18 who wants to participate must have a parent or guardian sign a liability form at the start of the event. 

Participants should come prepared to get dirty. Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, and closed-toe shoes or boots. Hats are also recommended. The City will provide tools, gloves, and drinking water.

These events are sometimes cancelled due to weather, shortage of volunteers, or other issues. On the morning of the event, after 10 a.m., check the Facebook page listed above to make sure it’s still being held.
