Weather permitting, on Wednesday, July 15, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Washington Street will be closed to thru traffic from Gilbert Street to Linn Street. After 6 p.m. and until the end of day on Friday, July 17, westbound traffic will continue to be closed, however, eastbound will be re-opened to traffic. A detour route will be posted.

The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department and Parks and Recreation Foundation are hosting their second annual Golf Fundraiser to generate funds for a swim scholarship program to ensure that all local kids who want to learn to swim are able to, regardless of their family’s ability to pay for lessons. The Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center will be closed on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, to allow staff to participate in the building and mechanical training for the new Animal Center facility. It will resume regular business hours on Wednesday, July 22.

The Animal Center is located at 4852 Sand Road SE, south of Iowa City.
