Starting Monday, May 4, MidAmerican Energy will begin replacing three power poles near the west end of the Iowa River Pedestrian Bridge. The work will impact trail access in this area as follows:

Pole 1: Work begins Monday, May 4, and should be complete on Tuesday, May 5. Trail will be closed immediately adjacent to Pole 1. The Iowa River Gazebo (ramp and stairs) and the Iowa River Pedestrian Bridge will remain open.

Moody's Investors Service has awarded the City of Iowa City the highest credit rating possible, an Aaa bond rating, for its outstanding general obligation debt. The City of Iowa City has posted its latest water quality report, also known as the Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) to its website at www.icgov.org/ccreport . The 2019 report indicates that Iowa City drinking water far surpasses all federal and state drinking water quality standards.

Library Closure Update

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Iowa City Public Library announces these updates:

The downtown library building will remain closed to the public until further notice. There will be no in-person library programs, public meeting room use, or ICPL Bookmobile service until possibly mid-August.

Starting Monday, May 4, library staff will resume answering phone calls to 319-356-5200 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Due dates have been extended through July 15 for everything borrowed from the library. Please keep library items until the library reopens....

The closure of City facilities to the public, including City Hall and recreation centers, has been extended indefinitely, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

On March 17, 2020, the Governor first declared a State Public Health Emergency due to COVID-19, and has since extended the emergency several times.

In accordance with the Governor's orders, and following Iowa Department of Public Health mitigation guidelines, the City has extended the following facilities closures that began in March:
