The closure of Burlington Street from Riverside Drive to Madison Street has been extended to Friday, June 5, 2020.
The street was slated to reopen Friday, May 15, 2020 following a sanitary sewer delay. The new extension is necessary to complete trench backfilling and compaction, railroad crossing improvements, and street paving.
05/01/2020: The closure of Burlington Street from Riverside Drive to Madison Street has been extended to Friday, May 15, 2020.
The street was slated to reopen Friday, May 1, 2020, but an issue with the sanitary sewer under the railroad tracks was discovered. The street is set to at least partially reopen by May 15, 2020.
04/09/2020: Weather permitting, beginning on Monday, April 13, 2020, Burlington Street will be closed to through traffic from Riverside Drive to Madison Street. A detour route will be posted utilizing Riverside Drive, Highway 6, and Gilbert Street. This closure is necessary to facilitate railroad crossing improvements for the Burlington and Madison Intersection Improvements Project. It anticipated that normal traffic will resume by Friday, May 1, 2020.
Motorists are to take note of this work and seek an alternate route during this time period. As always, caution should be exercised when driving through all construction areas.
