Iowa City’s Trick-or-Treat Night will take place this Saturday, Oct. 31 from dusk to 8 p.m. Trick-or-treaters and their chaperones are reminded to take extra safety precautions on Halloween, as kids will be hitting the streets around the same time that Hawkeye fans will be exiting the Iowa - Maryland football game at Kinnick Stadium. The football game begins at 2:30 p.m. that day.
Neighborhoods in the immediate vicinity of the stadium are located in the community of University Heights, which has moved its trick-or-treat night to Friday, Oct. 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Iowa City travelers are asked to pay close attention to the roads and watch out for children after the game on Saturday. Trick-or-treaters and their guardians are reminded to stay safe by walking on sidewalks, crossing only at intersections, avoiding entering the street from between parked vehicles, watching closely for cars at all times, and avoiding game-day traffic. Kids should wear reflective or blinking clothing or add a piece of reflective tape to their costume, or carry a glow stick or a flashlight so they can be easily seen.
