Friday parking for cyclo-cross reconfigured due to heavy rains

Due to heavy rains received Friday morning, some parking has been reconfigured at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. Parking is either along Old 218 (as available) or recommended at the Iowa City Municipal Airport, just 1.7 miles north of the fairgrounds entrance. Volunteers will provide shuttles from the airport to the fairgrounds. In addition for Friday, a yellow parking pass is also designated at the airport.

Drivers coming to Iowa City to celebrate the Cyclo-Cross World Cup and the Northside Oktoberfest on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 can expect delays on Dubuque Street and should consider taking another route in and out of Iowa City.

Dubuque Street is currently reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction from Foster Road to Ronalds Street for work on the Iowa City Gateway Project , a large flood mitigation effort.

The Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) responded to the 1900 block of Broadway Street on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 8:42 p.m. to a report of a robbery that had just occurred where a weapon was displayed.

The victim reported he was approached by two male subjects outside of his residence. One of the subjects displayed what was later determined to be a BB/pellet gun. The victim reported that the suspects grabbed his cell phone and then fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. The Iowa River Clean-up Project scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 has been cancelled due to significant rain in the Iowa River watershed upstream of Iowa City.

Unfortunately, the resultant increase in river stage will make the bulk of the trash inaccessible, minimizing the impact of the event.
