On November 12, 2016, at approximately 12:42 a.m. the Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) was dispatched to a residence on Prairie Du Chien Road to a report of a harassing letter. This matter was referred to the ICPD Investigations division. Upon the ICPD Investigator meeting with the victim, it was reported that the victim left the residence around midnight and returned at approximately 12:40 a.m. to find a letter containing a racial and threatening message taped to his front door. There were no reported witnesses to this event and there are no suspects at this time. 

This matter remains under investigation by the ICPD and the police are requesting the public’s assistance in determining the identity of the suspect. Anyone with information about this matter is encouraged to contact Detective Gabe Cook at 319-356-5291 or email gabe-cook@iowa-city.org.
Additionally, the Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects in this matter. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
