Weather permitting, travel on the following street will be impacted beginning on Monday, March 21, 2022. It is anticipated that normal traffic will resume August, 31st.

Weather permitting, starting on Monday, March 21, 2022, American Legion Road will be closed to through traffic 200 feet east of Buckingham Lane to Arlington Drive. This is in addition to the closure from Arlington Drive to Barrington Road that went into effect last fall.

This closure will facilitate utility and pavement reconstruction associated with the American Legion Road Improvements Project. A detour route will be posted utilizing Scott Boulevard, Court Street and Taft Avenue. It is anticipated that this phase of the project will be completed by August 31, 2022.

At approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2022, an individual reported a dog bite incident that occurred while running in the area of Deforest Avenue and Franklin Street.

The individual stated they were running and passed a female who was walking her dog on a leash. The individual accidentally stepped on the dog's foot and the dog bit their hand. The female dog owner is described as being in her 30s with blonde hair. The dog is described as a brindle Boxer-type dog, wearing a prong collar.

The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department is hosting Things That Go, a fun-filled family event offering hands-on building and doing.

The two-day event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 18 and March 19, 2022, at the Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert Street.
