Thanks to a return toward pre-pandemic staffing levels, the Iowa City Police Department is pleased to announce the return of the Downtown Liaison Officer position. Officer Colin Fowler - who was appointed Downtown Liaison Officer in 2017 - will return to that role.

The Downtown Liaison is a sworn and uniformed officer assigned to the department's Community Outreach division. The Downtown Liaison is tasked with fostering positive relationships with Downtown businesses and patrons through public education, pro-active patrols, and homeless outreach.

During the University of Iowa’s residence hall move-out, May 10-14, 2022, the City of Iowa City teamed up with Table to Table to offer food donation, hygiene/grooming product donation, and battery recycling for students moving out of the dormitories.

The Iowa City Police Department is releasing additional information and camera footage related to the June 3, 2022, arrest of Daria D. Brown.

Camera footage shows officers encountering Brown hitting the windows of a Downtown bar after she was denied entry due to her level of intoxication. While speaking with Brown, officers learned Brown had assaulted a bar employee. The bar declined to pursue charges.
