Dubuque Street on game day: Expect delays, traffic changes

Hawkeye football fans who are headed to Iowa City for the game this weekend are reminded that there may be some traffic delays on Dubuque Street due to ongoing construction on the Iowa City Gateway Project. Drivers are encouraged to arrive early or use an alternate route to Kinnick Stadium to avoid delays. The Hawkeyes face the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, beginning at 7 p.m.

Before the game, traffic on Dubuque Street will run normally, in northbound and southbound directions. After the game, however, both lanes will run northbound to accommodate post-game...

The City of Iowa City has hired a new Assistant City Manager, Ashley Monroe, to fill the role left vacant by the promotion of Geoff Fruin to City Manager in July 2016. Monroe will begin her employment with Iowa City on Thursday, Dec. 1.

Traffic control changes on Dubuque Street

Beginning Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, Dubuque Street will experience traffic control changes for vehicles and pedestrians. Vehicles traveling southbound will be using the cross-over pavement in front of Mayflower Residence Hall onto the new detour pavement. There will be one lane of travel in each direction on this new pavement from Mayflower to a new crossover that is being installed at Kimball Road. An interactive, multi-sensory public art installation rooted in STEAM concepts -- science, technology, engineering, art and math -- is being planned by the City of Iowa City Public Art Committee. This permanent art piece will be installed on an 8 ft. by 15 ft. wall in the upper level of the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center at 220 S. Gilbert Street, near one of the building’s primary entrances.
