The Iowa City Senior Center is excited to provide residents with an expanding lineup of virtual programs while the building remains closed due to COVID-19.
Members of The Center will soon receive a printed August calendar in their mailboxes, and the August digital calendar is available to check for intriguing classes right now. Virtual offerings include:
- Several of The Center's mainstay fitness classes, including Saturday Morning Yoga, Fit 4 Life, Slow Flow Yoga, BeMoved Dance, Moving with Parkinson's, and Bone Builders
- Continuing favorites like the weekly Garden Club, Iowa City history talks, Spanish Conversation Practice, and 50+ Singles Breakfast Club
- New opportunities to exercise your creative side while scratching a social itch, such as Watercolor Doodling, Zentangle, Cooking with Vegetables, and our new Hobby Hour/Happy Hour gatherings
- Programs to help you stay informed in our changing world, such as COVID-19 updates and Q&A sessions from Johnson County Public Health, How to Spot Fake News with the Iowa City Public Library, and our continuing series of readings and discussions about social justice and racial equity
Despite being closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, staff at The Center continues to work each day to support the wellness, community engagement, social connections, and lifelong learning of older adults in the Iowa City/Johnson County area, and beyond.
