City of Iowa City administrative offices at City Hall, 410 E. Washington St., are currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In observance of the coming Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, additional closures and changes to schedules have been updated. 

City Hall administrative offices and other facilities and services will be closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 18, 2021. To see a list of City-affiliated events honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., please visit our website

The following schedules will be in effect for other City facilities during the holidays:

Airport: Office will be closed, but Jet Air (FBO) will be open regular business hours. 

Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed.

Landfill and Recycling Center: Closed.

Library: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with current COVID-19 limited access.

Bookmobile: No Bookmobile service. 

Oakland Cemetery: Closed.

Parking: Normal operations. 

Parks and Recreation: Administrative offices closed. Mercer Park Aquatic Center open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. for lap swim. Lap swim pre-registration is required and can be made by calling 319-356-5100. For more information, visit

Police: Patrol and station masters will be on duty. Records and administrative office closed.

Refuse, Recycling, and Organics: Normal operations. Garbage, recycling, and organics will be collected. 

Senior Center: Closed to the public due to COVID-19. Residents can check online for the Center's virtual program options. 

Transit: Iowa City Transit will operate on a regular Saturday schedule from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Water: Closed. For a water emergency, call the 24-hour line at 319-356-5166.
