Administrative offices at City Hall will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The City is partnering with several local organizations to host an event to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King.
Note: Curbside garbage, recycling and organics will be collected on Monday.
Offices or facilities that will be closed or will operate on a revised schedule include:
Airport: Office will be closed, but Jet Air (FBO) will be open regular business hours.
Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed.
Oakland Cemetery: Closed.
Landfill and Recycling Center: Closed.
Library: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Bookmobile: No Bookmobile Service.
Parks and Recreation: Administrative offices closed. Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, Mercer/Scanlon and pools will be open regular hours.
Parking: Normal operations.
Police: Patrol and station masters will be on duty. Records and administrative office closed.
Senior Center: Closed. Elder Services will not serve senior meals.
Trash & Recycling: Normal operations. Garbage, recycling, and organics will be collected.
Transit: Iowa City Transit will operate on a regular Saturday schedule from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Water: Closed. For a water emergency, call the 24-hour line at 319-356-5166.
City offices and operations will return to normal schedules on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
In collaboration with the University of Iowa and other local organizations, there will be several events held the week of Martin Luther King Jr. Day to honor Dr. King’s legacy.
