The City of Iowa City Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) announces the availability of more matching funds up to $2,000 for public art projects.

Funded through the Iowa City Public Art Program, visual, audio, or performance-based art such as sculpture, murals, performances, readings, interactive exhibits, video projections, soundscapes, spoken word, and other mediums, will be considered.

The Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) is alerting area residents and retailers of a recent spike in the use of counterfeit U.S. currency in the city.

Retailers are asked to test any large denominations they find suspicious. Counterfeit detector pens can be used, as well as UV counterfeit detector machines.

If a resident or retailers believe they have received a counterfeit bill, they should contact the police as soon as possible, note the time of the transaction, and get a good description/security video of the suspect.
