Weather permitting, on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, construction will begin on the Iowa City Gateway Project, and includes Park Road and Dubuque Street.

Park Road improvements, from the Iowa River to Holt Ave. will begin immediately, and will continue through early September. Lane shifts should begin on Park Road beginning Tuesday, May 31. During this time, through-traffic on Park Road will be maintained.

Lane reductions are also expected on Dubuque Street Tuesday, May 31, due to contractor mobilization and site preparation in the northbound lanes at Mayflower Residence Hall and the southbound lanes at Park Road.

Dubuque Street utility relocations are expected to begin in early June, with traffic being reduced to one lane in each direction for Stage 1 work between Foster Road and Brown Street.

As specific traffic control changes or closures are anticipated, additional information will be provided. The estimated duration of impacts will be through early September 2016 for Park Road, from the Iowa River to Holt Avenue and through the summer of 2018 for Dubuque Street and Park Road Bridge.

Motorists should take note of these construction areas and possible lane reductions and allow extra travel time or seek an alternate route, as delays may occur. Use caution when traveling through construction areas.
