Weather permitting, on Wednesday, July 15, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Washington Street will be closed to thru traffic from Gilbert Street to Linn Street. After 6 p.m. and until the end of day on Friday, July 17, westbound traffic will continue to be closed, however, eastbound will be re-opened to traffic. A detour route will be posted.

This closure is necessary to facilitate the placement of a crane in connection with the unloading of building materials at Ecumenical Towers on Washington Street. The handicapped drop-off area for the Senior Center will be temporarily relocated to the north entrance of the building off of the alley.

The 7th Avenue, Court Hill, Lakeside, Eastside Express, Mall and Towncrest bus routes will detour due to the closure. These outbound routes will travel south on Clinton Street and east on Burlington Street. The following stops will not be serviced during this detour: #7200 (Washington & Linn) and #7201 (Washington & Gilbert). Normal service will resume once the work is completed and conditions are safe.

Motorists are to take note of this construction work and to seek an alternate route during the time period. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling in all construction areas.
