The Iowa River environmental clean-up that had been scheduled by the City of Iowa City this Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, has been cancelled. Volunteers are still needed for a clean-up on the following Sunday, Oct. 30.

To register for the Oct. 30 event, visit facebook.com/iowa.city.stormwater.volunteers. A range of jobs will be available to accommodate all age groups and skill levels, and no experience is necessary. Credit is available for University of Iowa and Kirkwood Community College Environmental Science students, as well as junior high and high school students. Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent sign a consent form on the day of the clean-up. Volunteers are instructed to dress in long pants, socks, and closed-toe shoes or boots. Gloves and tools will be provided.

Participants will meet at noon in the parking lot in Napoleon Park, 3800 Napoleon Lane, for assignments. If the event is cancelled due to shortage of volunteers or inclement weather, a notice will be posted on the Facebook page listed above.
