The Iowa City Monarch Festival is from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017, at the East Side Recycling Center, 2401 Scott Boulevard SE.

There is no fee to participate, and it is expected to be well attended. The afternoon will include kids activities, giveaways and informational materials about Monarchs.

Consider the following as you make plans to attend:

Parking will be limited at the East Side Recycling Center. Consider carpooling or riding a bike to help reduce the number of vehicles parked on site. Overflow parking will be available at Systems Unlimited, 2533 Scott Boulevard  SE or on Freedom Court, just East of Scott Boulevard. Both are a quick walk to the event.

This is a family friendly event with many kid focused activities including a nature themed scavenger hunt, face painting, a photo booth (use #ICMonarchs), and a monarch themed snack. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and should be mindful of increased traffic.
