Registration is now open for a racial equity event.

The conference called "Advancing Racial Equity: the role of Government - Iowa" will focus on racial equity and provide tools for awareness, education and best practices. Participants will learn how local and regional governments can implement policy changes at multiple levels and sectors to drive larger, systemic change to racial and income inequities. 

The event will happen Friday, April 7, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel, 210 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City. Early registration is $30 per person and will increase to $45 per person after March 24. 

Tickets are available online at Registration closes March 31. Walk-in ticket sales and registration will not be available. A limited number of scholarships, full or partial, are an option for those with financial needs. 

Lead sponsors for the conference include the Government Alliance on Race and Equity, the City of Iowa City and the City of Dubuque. Co-sponsors are the City of Coralville, City of North Liberty, the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque/Inclusive Dubuque, Johnson County and the University of Iowa Center for Human Rights.
