Registration is now underway for the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department's Winter Break Camp, which keeps kids busy, learning, and entertained during their holiday break from school. This year's camp, 'Tis the Season to be Freezin,' runs Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 28-30 for kindergarten through sixth grade students.

Camp activities will take place at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert Street, and will include arts and crafts, swimming, ice skating, cooking holiday treats, singing holiday songs, bowling, and other activities. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., although children may be checked in beginning at 7:30 a.m. and picked up between 4 and 5:30 p.m. at no additional charge.

Fees are $40 per day per child. For non-Iowa City residents, the cost is $45 per day. Visit for an information packet, registration form, a schedule of camp activities, details on available payment options, and the list of items that students need to bring with them each day of camp. Printed packets are available at either recreational facility: Robert A. Lee, 220 S. Gilbert Street, or Mercer / Scanlon, 2701 Bradford Drive.

Registration may be completed in one of several ways:
