Johnson County residents invited to comment on transportation issues through online survey

The Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County (MPOJC), the county-wide planning organization for Johnson County, announces that the first of five Future Forward 2045 transportation surveys is open for responses. Feedback on the initial survey will be used to develop more detailed surveys for the following modes of transportation -- automobile, bicycle, and transit -- and the youth population.

Structure Fire at 819 S. 1st Avenue

At 9:50 am on Thursday, January 28th, the Iowa City Fire Department responded to a reported fire at 819 S. 1st Avenue – Shakespeare’s Pub & Grill. The first units arrived to find smoke showing from multiple roof vents. Fire crews located active fire in the walls and attic space near the kitchen area. Crews contained the fire and brought it under control within 12 minutes of arrival. All occupants had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire department.
