The Iowa City Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) continues to gather public input as it works towards development of a Public Art Strategic Plan by requesting the public to participate in a short survey.

The public can take the survey online. The survey is open until midnight on Sunday, April 21, 2019.

The Iowa City City Council recently approved the Fiscal Year 2020 budget which included an increase in funding for the Public Art Program.  The Council requested that the PAAC develop a strategic plan to provide an understanding of how these funds will be utilized and identify potential long-term funding sources.

In addition, a strategic plan will provide direction related to:

  • The purpose of public art
  • The form public art should take: visual, performance, participatory, literary, functional, etc.
  • Locations for artwork
  • Opportunities to provide public art experiences that are equitable and accessible by all
  • Alternative, sustainable funding sources that will enable to plan to be implemented

The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. The responses to the survey, as well as the input provided at the first public input meeting held Friday, March 8, 2019, will be compiled. General strategies will be developed for further public input at the second public input open house scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Ashton House, 820 Park Road, Iowa City.
