At 10:17 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, Iowa City Police responded to the 800 block of Brown Street for a report of shots fired. 

Responding officers arrived and found an unoccupied vehicle in the intersection of Governor and Brown streets with a door open and a flat tire. Officers located several handgun shell casings in the immediate area of the vehicle. 

An adult male suffering from gunshot wounds was located in the area. The man was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries. The man told police he had been driving the vehicle and was shot by an unidentified man who had been a passenger in the vehicle and fled the area.

At approximately midnight, an adult male arrived at a hospital in Cedar Rapids suffering from a non life-threatening gunshot wound. The Iowa City Police Department, with the assistance of the Cedar Rapids Police Department, believe this man was involved in the shooting at Governor and Brown in Iowa City.

Iowa City Police believe this is an isolated event and this incident remains under investigation.
