Clear skies and dry weather meant crews could make significant progress on the Ped Mall Improvements Project last week.

Brick and pavement renewal on the east side of College Street, in front of the Iowa City Public Library, continued. Plans are to begin water main installation and sewer work in the area this week.

On the west side of College Street, crews finished brick pavement replacement in front of Sculpt and Wells Fargo. Crews will work on removing the abandoned vault in front of Wells Fargo this week, then finish the sub slab and pavers in front of that building. On the opposite side of the west end of College Street, crews will begin removing the old brick and pavement in front of Brothers Bar & Grill and Velvet Coat.

Work on the stage canopy continues, with crews focusing on banner rigging, with testing to follow shortly.

There will not be a Pedestrian Mall Renovation Project meeting on Friday, June 14. The next meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21, in Room D of the Iowa City Public Library.
