Clinton Street has been reduced to one lane of traffic in either direction, with no center turn lane, in Downtown Iowa City as the Pedestrian Mall Improvements Project looks to enter its final stages.

Reduced lanes on Clinton Street allow for paving work to be finished at its intersection. The street will remain open at all times, however, traffic congestion may occur. Motorists are to take note of this construction and allow extra travel time during this time period. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling in all construction are

This week, crews will also continue paving and placing pavers at the west end of the Pedestrian Mall near Wells Fargo and Yotopia.

On the east-end of the project, planter work has been finished near Linn Street and in front of Bread Garden Market. This section of the Ped Mall has been fully opened to pedestrian traffic.

The next Ped Mall Renovation Project meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, 2019, in Room D at the Iowa City Public Library.
