Bring the family out for a camping themed Party in the Park from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Cardigan Park.

Stop by the park, located at 500 Huntington Drive, to enjoy live music, camping themed crafts, and a variety of outdoor games and toys.

Be sure to bring your lawn chairs and blankets! The evening’s entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will feature live music performed by Keystone Carport, a local acoustic band.

The camping-themed crafts will include making colorful lanterns using tissue paper, plastic bottles, and lights. Another craft will be led by GreenIowa AmeriCorps, where visitors can learn how to make reusable water balloons. Several outdoor games and toys will be set out for visitors to play with, including giant Jenga, a ring toss game, a bean bag toss, hula hoops, chalk, and bubbles.

The party will conclude at 8 p.m. with a frozen treat for visitors to enjoy.

Party in the Park is a weekly event sponsored by the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department and the Neighborhood Outreach Division. To learn more about Party in the Park, visit, or contact Program Supervisor Joyce Carroll at, or 319-356-5223.
