Park Road Bridge in Iowa City will close later this spring for approximately two months to complete the elevation of the southbound travel lanes on Dubuque Street, as well as the east and west approaches to the new bridge.  This work will connect the new roadway with the new bridge, and will include demolition of the existing Park Road Bridge.

Officials are looking to close the bridge after Memorial Day, but a specific date has not been set. The community is encouraged to sign up for Iowa City Gateway Project email updates at www.icgov.org/e-subscriptions to receive notification when more information is available.

Detour routes for pedestrians and drivers will be posted.

During the bridge closure, people will still be able to access Park Road from Riverside Drive and the west. Upper City Park and City Park Pool access will remain open as usual, but Lower City Park will use a temporary road as work is done to elevate and improve its normal entry.

More information on the bridge closure will be available in May.

The Iowa City Gateway Project is a flood mitigation effort, elevating Dubuque Street while raising and replacing the Park Road Bridge.
