Road closures, transit changes for Northside Oktoberfest

The Northside Oktoberfest will close several streets to traffic for fall festivities that can be enjoyed by the entire community from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019 in the Northside.

All are welcome to enjoy the atmosphere and activities. Tickets are on sale for those planning to sample craft beers, cider, and wines. There's even Soda Fest for the kids.

Ped Mall Update: Construction is nearing completion

The Pedestrian Mall Improvements Project is on schedule to be completed this fall.

Crew members finished installing bicycle racks on the east and west end of College Street. City of Iowa City kiosks were installed on both ends as well.

Benches were installed on the west end. The stage area is finished and all brick pavers have been installed.

Work this week will focus on the College and Clinton streets intersection. The brick has been removed and will be replaced with full-depth concrete.

The next Ped Mall Renovation Project meeting will be held at 10 a.m....

Coffee with a Cop comes to Starbucks this Friday

Iowa City Police officers will have a Coffee with a Cop at two Iowa City Starbucks locations on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019.

9-10 a.m. at the Starbucks located at 11 Highway 1, near Fin and Feather. 11 a.m. to noon at the Starbucks located at 228 S. Clinton St, in Downtown Iowa City

Expect travel delays during City High Homecoming Parade

The City High School Homecoming Parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019. The parade route will begin at Mercer Park, 2701 Bradford Dr., and proceed west on Bradford Drive to First Avenue. The parade will then travel north on First Avenue to Bates Field where it will end. Traffic will not be allowed on or across the route once the parade begins. Drivers traveling in the area are encouraged to use an alternate route as delays are expected.

Yoga is proven to be beneficial for the body and the mind. Join us at the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert St., as we provide yoga classes for all ages.

Ped Mall Update: east end done, west end becomes focus

With work on the east end of College Street finished, the Ped Mall Improvements Project focus has shifted to the west end.

Crew members installed pavers, as well as planter foundations and walls. Work removing the composite brick and concrete from the intersection of College and Clinton streets has begun. Traffic signs will eventually be replaced as well.

Additional bike racks will be installed on both ends of College Street. The east end bike racks will be installed this week.

The next Ped Mall Renovation Project meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 27...
