Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department has announced that Oakland Cemetery's Cherish Columbarium, which was formerly reserved for infant cremains, is now available for general internment of cremains. The cemetery, located at 1000 Brown Street, offers two columbariums -- the Cherish and the Forestview. Oakland Cemetery is the City's publicly owned cemetery, which is overseen by the Parks and Recreation Department.
The Cherish Columbarium is located in the far east side of the cemetery and offers 64 niches for cremains. Pricing will vary depending on size of the niche, location of the niche within the columbarium, and whether it is a single or double niche.
