People who need help raking leaves this fall are encouraged to sign-up for assistance through the Senior Center.

A group of City of Iowa City employees will rake leaves for folks living in the City limits as part of a volunteer service day on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon. The program is designed to help residents unable to rake themselves and who need extra help.

To sign-up, contact the Senior Center at 319-356-5220, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The deadline to sign-up is Friday, Oct. 28.

The City cannot guarantee that it will be able to accommodate all requests. It’s encouraged that you sign-up early as help will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

The City will contact people ahead of the Nov. 5 service day to let them know their yard will be raked. Volunteers will only be raking and will not be able to help with other chores or cleaning.

In the case of inclement weather, the event will not be rescheduled.
