City of Iowa City administrative offices at City Hall, 410 E. Washington St., are currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 31, 2021, additional closures and changes to schedules have been updated below.
Memorial Day closures and schedule adjustments:
Airport: Office closed. Jet Air (FBO) will operate regular hours. Details at jetairinc.com/fbo/.
Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed.
Landfill and Recycling Center: Closed.
Library Bookmobile: Not in service.
Oakland Cemetery: Office closed. Decorations can be placed on gravesides on or after Thursday, May 27, 2021. All decorations must be picked up by Sunday, June 6, 2021.
There will be no Memorial Day ceremonies at the cemetery.
Parking: Public parking ramps will be open, but cashier attendants will not be on duty. Fees will not be charged at ramps or street meters on Memorial Day.
Parks & Recreation:
- Administrative Offices closed.
- Mercer Park Aquatic Center: Open 8:15 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- City Park Pool: An offical opening date has yet to be chosen.
- Robert A. Lee Recreation Center – Closed
Police: Open for normal operations. Records and administrative offices closed.
Senior Center: Closed.
Recycling & Trash: Recycling, garbage, and yard waste will be collected on Memorial Day.
Transit: Closed. City buses will not operate on Memorial Day.
Water: Closed. In case of a water emergency, call the 24-hour emergency line at 319-356-5166.
Normal City operations will resume on Tuesday, June 1, 2021; however, some facilities remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit www.icgov.org/coronavirus for details.
