Community invited to attend Community Police Review Board forum

The Community Police Board (CPRB) will host its annual Community Forum to hear views on Iowa City Police Department policies and procedures.

The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2023, in Meeting Room A of the Iowa City Public Library.

The community is invited to submit questions and comments that will be used during the event.

Fiscal Year 2023 2nd Quarter Financial Report is now available

Iowa City’s preliminary quarterly finance report for the quarter that ended December 31, 2022, is now available at www.icgov.org/budget . This report provides information on the City’s fund balances, revenues, and expenditures compared to budgeted amounts and budget variances.

The quarterly finance report is required by the City Council’s Financial and Fiscal Policies.

Applications now being accepted for the Public Art Matching Grant program

To foster creativity and continue to build on Iowa’s City’s moniker, The Greatest Small City for the Arts, the City’s Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) has announced the 2023 Matching Grant fund program!

Matching grants are available for art projects (visual, audio, or performance-based) that are located in Iowa City and accessible to the general public. This will be the only round offered and the only application period for Public Art Matching Grants in 2023.

The maximum award is $3,500 which will require documented total project costs of at least $7,000. Smaller grants...

This month, the Love Food, Fight Waste program is highlighting the importance of local food in our Johnson County community.

City Council approves maximum property tax levy

At 12:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, Iowa City police received a report of a shot fired at 118 S. Clinton St. Nearby officers were on the scene within seconds and collected a shell casing at the scene.

At this time, no injuries have been reported related to this incident. Iowa City Police are continuing to actively investigate this incident.
