Each week, the Iowa City Farmers Markets brings us fresh produce, homemade baked goods, items made by local artisans -- and Market Music, which provides an excellent line-up of live music by some of the area’s best musicians. The musical line-up for September includes:
Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.
- Sept. 2 (Taste of Market): The Yahoo Drummers
- Sept. 9: Guy Drollinger
- Sept. 16: Joe and Coleen Peterson and Friends
- Sept. 23: Drake and Johnson
- Sept. 30: Slewgrass
Saturdays, 9-11 a.m.
- Sept. 5: Ben Schmidt and Larry Mossman
- Sept. 12: Sweet Cacophony
- Sept. 19 (Kids’ Day): Terrapin Isle and Geneviève Salamon
- Sept. 26: Too Young to Quit
Performances take place in Chauncey Swan Park in the 400 block of Washington Street, adjacent to the Farmers Market. Market Music is co-sponsored by the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department and the University of Iowa Community Credit Union.
Hours for the Iowa City Farmers Markets are Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon at Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp. On Tuesdays, a market is held from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mercer Park, 1317 Dover Street, but Market Music is not affiliated with the Tuesday program.
