The Iowa City Farmers Markets bring fresh produce, homemade baked goods, items made by local artisans -- and Market Music, which provides an excellent line-up of live music by some of the area’s best musicians. The performance schedule for the remainder of August includes:
Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.
- August 12: Nancita Wernett
- August 19: Dunlavin Green
- August 26: The Young Ramblers
Saturdays, 9-11 a.m.
- August 8: Kathy Maxey and Larry Mossman
- August 15: Nick Stika
- August 22: Mike Haverkamp
- August 29: The Beggarmen
Performances take place in Chauncey Swan Park in the 400 block of Washington Street, adjacent to the Farmers Market. Market Music is co-sponsored by the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department and the University of Iowa Community Credit Union.
Hours for the Iowa City Farmers Markets are Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon, both at Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp. On Tuesdays, the City sponsors another Farmers Market from 3 to 6 p.m. at Mercer Park, 1317 Dover Street, but that market does not participate in the Market Music program.
