A Cedar Rapids man was arrested following a recent shooting in Iowa City.
20-year-old Darius Elmere Davison was taken into custody on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017 on an arrest warrant for Attempted Murder, a Class B Felony.
Police responded to a report of shots fired and a man on the ground in the 2600 block of Bartelt Road just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017. Witness told police the suspect had a handgun and fired at least four rounds, striking the victim.
Over the course of the investigation, police determined Davison was involved in a property dispute. On Wednesday, Feb. 8 officers issued an arrest warrant and on Tuesday, Feb. 14 the United States Marshal's Service in Bloomington, IL took Davison into custody. He will be transported to the Johnson County Jail pending extradition.
The United States Marshals Service, Cedar Rapids Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted the Iowa City Police Department in this case.
As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
