On Friday, Aug. 26, 2022, Madison Street will be closed in both directions between Washington and Burlington streets due to the grand opening of the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art. The closure will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 10 p.m.

Iowa City Transit impacts

Iowa City Transit will be detoured and bus stops will be out of service during the closure. The inbound and outbound 8-Oakcrest and 12-Highway 1 routes and the inbound 1-South Iowa City, 9-Towncrest, 2-Court Street, and 4-Downtown Shuttle routes will detour to the transit interchange using Capitol Street and Burlington Street.  

The affected routes will not service the bus stops located at UI Main Library (stop 1300) or Communications Center (stop 1319). Customers who normally catch the affected routes at these stops should catch their bus at the transit interchange as an alternate. Normal service will resume effective Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022.
