Crews have opened a left turn lane from Dubuque Street onto Park Road, as well as the previously closed pedestrian path.

The left turn lane allows drivers to turn from northbound Dubuque Street onto Park Road. The traffic signals will be phased in upcoming days to help move traffic through the intersection.  The pedestrian path gives paved access to Dubuque Street between Park Road and Church Street.

Crews may need to temporarily close lanes of Dubuque Street at this location in upcoming weeks to repair sinkholes that developed in the roadway due to a water main break and construction activity. Asphalt patches are currently being maintained in these locations.  The City will provide notices when that work occurs.

The Iowa City Gateway Project is a flood mitigation effort that is elevating Dubuque Street while raising and replacing the Park Road Bridge. To receive project updates, be sure to sign-up for City of Iowa City e-subscriptions,  and follow the City of Iowa City on Facebook and Twitter using #ICgateway. To learn more visit
