Ann Thompson has been named to serve as the Iowa City Police Department's first full-time Victim Services Coordinator. Thompson officially began the role on Jan. 26, 2021.

The position focuses on working with victims directly, by helping them access services related to the criminal justice system, while also mitigating the impacts of crime on the victims. In the new position, Thompson will also provide training to ICPD officers, as well as providing public education and sharing resources related to victim services.

Crews will remove snow in Downtown Iowa City overnight Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, beginning at 2 a.m. Vehicles parked in tow-away zones will be removed.

Towing will impact the following streets: Prentiss to Market, Madison to Gilbert, as well as N. Clinton Street from Market to Church. The parking in these areas are metered spots, which do not permit parking from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. Follow all posted parking signs to prevent your vehicle from being towed.

Thanks to an unusually snow-filled January, City crews and residents will have one more snow removal to complete this month.
