Iowa City seniors and others who cannot, or should not, rake for themselves are encouraged to sign-up for a program that will tackle the task for them.

The annual City of Iowa City employee leaf-raking event called "Leaf It to Us!" is seeking recipients. Volunteers will rake and pile leaves at the curb for pick-up from 9 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018. The event is being coordinated by the City's Employee Wellness Committee.

If you are an Iowa City resident and want to sign-up for assistance, contact the Senior Center at 319-356-5220 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The deadline for sign-up is Friday, Oct. 26. The service is available first-come, first-served. The City cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. Residents whose yards will be raked will be notified prior to the event.

Volunteers will be available to rake leaves only; no other chores or clean-up work can be performed. In case of inclement weather, the event will not be rescheduled.

For more information, call the Iowa City Senior Center at 319-356-5220.
