Iowa City seniors and others who cannot, or should not, rake for themselves are encouraged to sign-up for a program that will tackle the task for them.

The annual City of Iowa City employee leaf-raking event called "Leaf It to Us!" is seeking recipients. Volunteers will rake and pile leaves at the curb for pick-up from 9 a.m. to noon, on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017. The event is being coordinated by the City's Employee Wellness Committee,

If you are an Iowa City resident and want to sign-up for the assistance, contact the Senior Center at 319-356-5220 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday - Friday to have your name added to the list.

The deadline for sign-up is Friday, Oct. 13. The service will be available first-come, first-served. The City cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. Residents whose yards will be raked will be notified before Oct. 21.

Volunteers will be available to rake leaves only; no other chores or clean-up work can be performed. In case of inclement weather, the event will not be rescheduled.
