City of Iowa City administrative offices at City Hall, 410 E. Washington  St., are currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 7, 2020,  additional closures and changes to schedules have been updated.  

Please note that trash, yard waste, and recycling will be collected on Labor Day. See details below.

Airport: The administration office will be closed, but Jet Air (FBO) will be open regular hours.

Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed.

Landfill and Recycling Center: Closed.

Library and Bookmobile: Closed.

Parking: City parking ramps will not be cashiered and parking meters will not be enforced. 

Parks and Recreation: Administrative offices will be closed on Labor Day, and most facilities remained closed due to COVID-19. Other facilities are open:

  • Parks
  • Dog parks
  • Playgrounds- open, but not sanitized. Please use cautiously at your own risk.
  • Tennis and pickleball courts
  • Outdoor basketball courts
  • Trails
  • Terrell Mill Skate Park 

Police: Administration and Records offices will be closed. Patrol will operate normally.

Solid Waste: Refuse, recycling, and yard waste will be collected on Labor Day. Residents on the Monday route should have their materials at the curb by 7 a.m.

Senior Center: Closed. 

Transit: No bus service.

Water: Closed. For a water emergency, call the 24-hour emergency number at 319-356-5166.
