The Iowa City Human Rights Commission is seeking applicants to fill three vacancies. Each vacancy is a full term that starts January 1, 2022, and runs through December 31, 2024. Service is on a volunteer basis. The group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

The Iowa City Fire Department is reminding residents to check smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detector batteries when changing clocks back one hour at the end of daylight saving time on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021.

Maintaining smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector batteries is one of the simplest, most effective ways to reduce injury and death caused by a fire.

As we “fall back,” the Fire Department recommends residents do the following:

Organizations interested in applying for the City's Social Justice and Racial Equity Grant for FY2022 can attend one of two informational meetings. Both sessions are being held virtually via Zoom.
