Fresh farm fun awaits at the 2016 Iowa City Farmers Market Kids' Day, Saturday, September 17, from 9 a.m. to noon at Chauncey Swan Park, across the street from City Hall on Washington Street. Support kid vendors as they sell goods they've grown or made. Enjoy live music from pop violinist Genevieve Salamone, and learn something new at one of the many planned exhibits, demonstrations and kids activities sponsored by area organizations.

If that's not enough, after attending Kids' Day, walk over to the south side of the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert St., to enjoy the first season bounty of the new Outdoor Edible Classroom. Visit with farm animals, sow butterfly milkweed seeds, and dig up potatoes while listening to the Skipperlings’ sing. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to celebrate this new space.

There is no fee required to attend either of these events.
