City of Iowa City administrative offices at City Hall, 410 E. Washington St., are currently closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In observance of Juneteenth on Saturday, June 19, 2021, additional closures and changes to schedules have been updated for Friday, June 18, and Saturday.

Juneteenth closures and schedule adjustments:

Airport: Office closed. Jet Air (FBO) will operate regular hours. Details at

Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed Friday; open Saturday

Landfill and Recycling Center: Closed Friday; open Saturday. 

Library: Open Friday and Saturday.  

Library Bookmobile: Normal operation Friday. The Bookmobile's schedule can be found at

Oakland Cemetery: Office closed. 

Parking: Regular enforcement both Friday and Saturday. 

Parks & Recreation:

  • Administrative Offices closed.
  • Mercer Park Aquatic Center:  6:15 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Robert A. Lee Recreation Center: 6:15 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • City Park Pool: Facility hours begin at 6:15 a.m.  
    • 6:15 a.m. – 9 a.m.: Lap Swim & Water Walking;
    • 11a.m. – 1 p.m. – Lap Swim & Water Walking 
    • 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Open Swim
    • 5-8 p.m. - Open Swim, $2 swim

Police: Open for normal operations. Records and administrative offices closed.

Senior Center: Closed.

Recycling & Trash: Recycling, garbage, and yard waste will be collected on Friday. 

Transit: City buses will operate normally Friday and Saturday. 

Water: Closed. In case of a water emergency, call the 24-hour emergency line at 319-356-5166.

Normal City operations will resume on Monday, June 21, 2021; however, some facilities remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit for details.
