
The City will be closing multiple streets Friday, July 1, through Sunday, July 3, 2022, for the Iowa City Jazz Festival.
The annual jazz festival organized by the Summer of the Arts brings over a dozen of the world's best jazz musicians to Downtown Iowa City for a three-day music festival. The City's firework show will take place after 9:30 p.m. Saturday on the Pentacrest, after the last performance of the day.

Road closure and parking impacts
The following roads will be closed for the festival at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1, and will reopen late Sunday, July 3:
- Iowa Avenue from Dubuque Street to Clinton Street
- Clinton Street from Washington Street to Jefferson Street
The following road will be closed at 6 a.m. Saturday, July 2, and will reopen late Sunday, July 3:
- Dubuque Street from Jefferson Street to Iowa Avenue
Parking meters on all impacted streets will be marked with "No Parking" signs before the event. Cars in violation of these regulations will be towed.
In addition to reduced street parking, some ramp and lot parking will be reserved for festival vendors, performers, and service vehicles. Look for posted signs indicating restricted parking.
The Parking Division will be operating a normal weekday and weekend schedule from Friday, July 1, through Sunday, July 3. Parking ramps will remain open and staffed. All parking regulations will be in effect and enforced.
Bus detours
Starting at 6 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2022, the bus interchange will move from Washington Street and Clinton Street to a temporary location on Court Street between Clinton and Dubuque (adjacent to the Court Street Transportation Center) until the service day is concluded on Saturday, July 2, 2022.
Iowa City Transit will be operating a normal weekday and Saturday schedules during Jazz Fest.
The outbound bus stops located at Washington Street & Linn Street (stop 7200), Washington Street and Gilbert Street (stop 7201), Clinton Street & Jefferson Street (stop 7400), Jefferson Street & Linn Street (stop 7401), Washington Street and Madison Street (stop 7082) will be closed. The inbound bus stops located at Madison Street & Washington Street (stop 7081),UI Lindquist Center ( stop 7079), Market Street & Linn Street (stop 7206), Clinton Street & Jefferson Street (stop 7207), IC Recreation Center (stop 7243), and Burlington Street & Dubuque Street (stop 7244) will also be closed. Customers who use these stops should catch their buses at the alternate interchange on Court Street. These stops will reopen on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
- Friday, July 1: Iowa City Transit will run a normal weekday schedule from the alternate interchange on Court Street.
- Saturday, July 2: Iowa City Transit will run a normal Saturday schedule from the alternate interchange on Court Street.
- Sunday, July 3: No bus service.
Normal bus service utilizing the main transit interchange will resume on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. There will be no transit service on Monday, July 4, 2022, due to the Independence Day holiday.
Use the Transit App to keep track of changes; routes will be updated. Buses entering and exiting the temporary interchange may not report accurately.
